As screenwriter, Poppen has seven produced
family films to his credit, including the highly rated ABC Family original
movie Karate Dog. As a senior writer for ESPY
Awards on ESPN, Poppen has written comedy shorts and dramatic
documentaries featuring Will Ferrell, Samuel L. Jackson, Matthew Perry,
Justin Timberlake, and Jamie Foxx.
In the world of online sports and entertainment, Poppen was director, writer, and field producer of the hit Yahoo Sports
weekly series Behind Enemy Lines, shot on location all over the country. He recently directed two pilots for Disney Interactive, Moms vs. Dads and Bark Soup.
Other recent television credits include writer on the Hall of Game Awards for Cartoon Network... head writer and field producer for the US Open of
Surfing live broadcast on Fox Sports/FUEL-TV... and writer of the tenth anniversary Yearbook special for Tennis Channel.
Currently, Poppen is Story Producer for a new program on Food Network, set to premiere in fall of 2013. He was head writer for X Games Los Angeles on ESPN and ABC Sports... which followed his his stint as head writer and field producer for the weekly NBC Sports/Alli action sports weekly show Inside AlliSports.
Poppen is a Southern California native. In addition to all things entertainment, he craves outdoor sunshine and activity, and enjoys sports, biking, skiing, water polo, and competitive masters and ocean swimming. He lives in Los Angeles.
